The Poconos Coolest Winter Event - Open daily February 11 - 28, 2010 LAKEVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA – Each year, ole-man winter blows an icy blast of creative inspiration into the team of ice carvers at Sculpted Ice Works. These talented professionals create Crystal Cabin Fever, an indoor, interactive display and this year's theme is the Caribbean in ice! Come experience elements of the Caribbean Islands sculpted from over 100 tons of ice! Walk through a life-sized ice tiki hut and explore an ice treasure maze. Ride this years dual-run pirate ship ice slide to guarantee twice the fun! See ice dolphins, a coral reef display, reptiles, birds and much more all carved out of ice. Live ice carving shows and demonstrations will be ongoing. Bring your camera and thirst for free hot chocolate. On Saturdays February 20 & 27 check out the live ice carving competitions from 12-4 PM. February 20 professional carvers compete for cash prizes in a nationally sanctioned NICA competition and February 27 carvers duel in a multi-sculpture elimination event. Crystal Cabin Fever was developed to cure the "Cabin Fever" people often feel in February. Originally a life sized ice cabin was built and the unique event drew thousands of visitors. Now in its fourth season, the Crystal Cabin Fever team selects a unique theme each year with creative variations of the Crystal Cabin & ice slide. This year you can cure your Cabin Fever with a trip to the Caribbean. The detailed sculptures of Crystal Cabin Fever are created using ice blocks harvested in the Sculpted Ice Works plant here in the Poconos. Sculpted Ice Works is the major provider of ice blocks, ice carvings, ice bars and liquor luges to the hospitality industry throughout the Northeast and Mid-atlantic states. Sculpted Ice Works is routinely contracted to create large and creative ice installations for events locally and nationally.
